A missing tooth affects how you eat, speak and smile, and over time it can change the shape of your jaw. Dental implants are the closest thing to a natural tooth: a fixed, stable replacement that looks and feels just like your own.
An implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone, where it fuses with the bone to act like a natural root. A custom crown, bridge or full set of teeth is then fitted on top. Implants can replace one tooth, several teeth or a full arch.
Implant costs vary with the number of implants and any extra work needed. You will receive a full written plan and quote before treatment begins.
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed into the jawbone to act as a replacement root. Once it has fused with the bone through a process called osseointegration, a custom-made crown is attached to it to create a permanent, natural-looking tooth. The result is a stable, fixed restoration that looks and functions exactly like a real tooth.
With good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, dental implants can last a lifetime. The implant fixture itself is highly durable; the crown on top may need replacing after fifteen to twenty years due to normal wear, but the implant below typically remains intact indefinitely. They are the most long-lasting tooth replacement option available.
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should feel no pain during placement. Afterwards, mild soreness and swelling are normal for a few days and are easily managed with over-the-counter pain relief. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the experience is. Any significant discomfort beyond the first few days should be reported to us immediately.
Most healthy adults are suitable candidates for dental implants. Key factors include having sufficient jawbone volume to support the implant, healthy gums, and no uncontrolled systemic conditions such as unmanaged diabetes that could affect healing. Smokers are at higher risk of implant failure, and we will discuss this openly at your consultation. X-rays and, where needed, a 3D scan allow us to assess bone volume accurately before committing to treatment.
Not always. A bone graft is only required if the jawbone has insufficient volume to support the implant securely. This often occurs when a tooth has been missing for some time, and the underlying bone has resorbed. We assess this at your consultation with X-rays or a scan. If a graft is needed, it is typically carried out several months before implant placement to allow the new bone to mature.
In some cases, an implant can be placed immediately after extraction; this is called immediate placement. In others, it is preferable to allow the socket to heal first, which may take several weeks to months. The timing depends on the condition of the surrounding bone and gum tissue. We will advise the best approach for your specific situation at your consultation.
The exact cost depends on your individual case, including any additional procedures required, such as bone grafting or sinus lifting. We provide a detailed, itemised treatment plan so you know exactly what you are paying for before any treatment begins.
Yes. We offer 0% interest-free finance on implant treatment, subject to eligibility. Given the investment involved, spreading the cost over monthly payments is an option many of our patients choose. We will discuss your finance options at your consultation.
