If the thought of visiting the dentist makes you anxious, you are not alone. Dental anxiety is very common, and our team is experienced in helping nervous patients feel safe, relaxed and in control.
We never judge, whether you see your dentist regularly or you have been away for months or years. We take things at your pace, explain everything clearly and make sure you are comfortable before we begin any treatment.
There is no extra charge for taking things at your pace. Standard NHS or private fees apply, and sedation costs are explained in advance.
Very common. It is estimated that around one in four people in the UK experience some degree of dental anxiety, and for a significant number, that anxiety is severe enough to affect whether they attend at all. If you feel this way, you are in very good company, and you deserve care that takes it seriously.
Previous difficult experiences are one of the most common causes of dental anxiety, and they are completely understandable. Please tell us about your experience when you get in touch; it helps us understand what made it difficult and helps us make sure your appointment here feels as different as possible.
Absolutely. Bringing a trusted friend or family member is entirely welcome. Many nervous patients find this enormously helpful, and we will always accommodate a support person at your appointment.
Not at all. Your first appointment can simply be a conversation: no treatment, no examination, no obligation. Many of our nervous patients start this way, and we would always rather take time to build trust gradually than rush into treatment and make anxiety worse.
We agree on a stop signal before we begin- a raised hand, for example- and we will pause immediately when you use it, no questions asked. You are always in control.
Please do not worry. We see this regularly, and we will never make you feel anything other than supported. There is no judgement here, only care.
Sedation options are available for patients who need additional support to feel comfortable. Please speak to our team when you get in touch, and we will talk you through what is available and what might suit your individual needs.
This depends on the type of sedation used. Some forms of sedation allow you to remain fully conscious and responsive throughout your appointment, while others produce a deeply relaxed state. We will explain exactly what is involved before any decision is made, and there is never any pressure.
When carried out by trained clinicians, dental sedation has an excellent safety record. We will always assess your suitability carefully and talk you through everything beforehand, so you can make a fully informed decision with confidence.
