Frequently asked questions

Getting started

Are you taking on new patients?

Yes, we are always accepting new patients. Please contact the practice directly, and our team will let you know what care options are available to you and help you find the right course of action for your circumstances.

Do I need to register before booking an appointment?

You can simply call or email us to book your first appointment. Our team will take your details and register you at the time of your visit. No lengthy paperwork in advance; just get in touch.

How long does a new patient appointment take?

We allow additional time for new patient appointments so that there is no sense of being rushed. Please ask our team when you book, and we will confirm the appointment length based on your needs.

Your first visit

What happens at my first appointment?

Your first appointment includes a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and soft tissues, a gum health check, an oral cancer screening, and digital X-rays where clinically appropriate. We will also take a full medical and dental history and talk through any concerns or goals you have.

Will I have any treatment at my first appointment?

A new patient appointment is primarily an assessment. Any recommended treatment will be discussed and explained before it is booked. You will not have anything done without your full understanding and agreement.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

It is helpful to bring a list of any medications you are currently taking, including dosages. If you have had recent X-rays taken at another practice, it may be possible to request these so they do not need to be retaken.

NHS and private care

What is the difference between NHS and private dental treatment?

NHS dental treatment covers the clinical procedures necessary to keep your teeth and gums healthy. Private treatment offers a broader range of options, additional appointment time, and access to a wider range of materials and cosmetic treatments. We will always explain the difference honestly so you can make an informed choice.

I have not been to a dentist in a long time. Will you judge me?

Not at all. We see patients who have been away from dental care for years, and our approach is always the same: find out where things stand, explain what we find clearly, and work with you at a pace you are comfortable with. The most important thing is that you are here.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

Of course. You are always welcome to bring a friend or family member, and they are welcome to sit in with you during your appointment if that is what you would prefer.
